Research Update: HIGH FIVE® for 4-5-year olds
In 2019, HIGH FIVE undertook a literature review to update the research supporting the HIGH FIVE Principles and Design Guidelines. We asked researchers to consider different age groups when reviewing the academic literature, including 4- and 5-year olds. The results of the review confirmed the importance and validity of the HIGH FIVE Principles and Design Guidelines for children aged 4 to 12. It highlighted the different developmental needs for younger children, so HIGH FIVE will be creating new tools to help providers implement the HIGH FIVE Principles and Design Guidelines successfully with this younger cohort. HIGH FIVE also recommends that organizations investigate any programming resources, guidelines or regulation that exist in their jurisdiction to support the delivery of programs for younger children.
