Newly Accredited Organizations Commit to Quality Recreation and Sport Programming for Children

Toronto, ON (June 20, 2024) – Parks and Recreation Ontario (PRO) extends warm congratulations to the City of Brampton, Today's Family (Halton Branch), and Jump for Joy Play Centre on achieving HIGH FIVE® Accreditation, the highest recognized level of quality and safety assurance in children’s recreation and sport programming in Canada.

For over two decades, HIGH FIVE® has been the Champion of quality assurance, ensuring that organizations meet the highest standards of excellence. “HIGH FIVE® Accreditation serves as a beacon for organizations striving to provide holistic, enriching environments that foster healthy development, lifelong skills, and unforgettable memories for every child”, said Kim Gavine, PRO’s Chief Executive Officer.

Accredited organizations gain access to resources, tools, and ongoing support that encourage continuous, quality improvement and innovation in programming. Our newest accredited organizations include:

  • The City of Brampton who are committed to providing inclusive, affordable, and accessible recreation opportunities for their residents to play together.

  • Today’s Family (Halton Branch) offers childcare services and supports families during the early years focusing on healthy development.

  • Jump for Joy Play Centre provides drop-in play and parent relief services, after-school care and camps, where every experience becomes an opportunity for learning and fun.

HIGH FIVE® Accreditation ensures that organizations operate at the highest quality standards, providing children with enriching and developmentally appropriate recreation and sport experiences. Achieving accreditation demonstrates an organization's commitment to excellence, leading to increased trust and credibility among parents, caregivers, and the communities they serve. Organizations achieving Accreditation have been registered with HIGH FIVE® for at least three years and are distinguished by their focus on healthy child development in all aspects of their operation, from programming to policies and risk management.

About HIGH FIVE®:  Developed by PRO in 2001, HIGH FIVE® is Canada’s only comprehensive quality standard for children’s programs and holds to the following five Principles of healthy child development that research indicates are essential for providing a positive experience for kids: A Caring Adult, Friends, Play, Mastery and Participation, underpinned by the design guidelines for Quality programming.
